Cabo Roig can be found 10 kilometres to the south of Torrevieja on the beautiful southern coast of Spain. Less than 45 minutes drive from Alicante airport and around 20 minutes from Murcia San Javier airport, Cabo Roig is a delightful popular town with broad avenues lined with palm trees and landscaped gardens with views of the Mediterranean to the La Manga peninsula and the Mar Menor providing a picturesque setting alongside the wide warm sandy beaches.
It is a celebrated area of stunning beauty with pretty, sandy beaches whihc have been awarded the European Blue Flag for cleanliness, lovely cliff top walks and a full range of watersports are on offer including windsurfing, sailing, snorkelling, water skiing, fishing and scuba diving. Cabo Roig is renowned as being an exclusive coastal area. Cabo Roig has two secluded sandy beaches, which are linked by a delightfully scenic cliff walk. Cabo Roig also has excellent restaurants with superb sea views, tennis courts and its own picturesque marina.
The area is blessed with a uniquely dry climate with a remarkably low rainfall and over 340 days of glorious sunshine each year. According to the World Health Organisation, the salt water lakes absorb water from the atmosphere to create a special microclimate with Cabo Roig and its surrounding areas widely being described as an "almost as perfect environment as it is possible to obtain".
Cabo Roig is a vibrant region that is a well known sport amongst avid golfers, shoppers and party animals alike. The region is home to over 30 different golf courses because the climate is so mild, so a round of golf can usually be played every single day of the year. Keen historians will also love the interesting cultural and archeological sites in the area, such as the 16th century watch tower which was built to guard against invasions and is now a restaurant serving delicious local cuisine and spectacular views of the sparkling Meditteranean.
Within a five minute walk from El Convento is the 'Fuente' commercial centre where you will find several bars and restaurants serving everything from inexpensice breakfasts to 'a la carte' Spanish and Asian cuisine. The main road of the Cabo Roig region that is locally known as 'The Strip', where there are dozens of places to eat and drink. There are Spanish, Italian, Thai, Chinese, English and Argentinian restaurants, all serving their countries specialities at affordable price with many of the bars on The Strip open until very late.

Car Hire
From Alicante or Murcia airport, hiring a car is easy and cheap! There are many internationally recognised and trusted hire companies.
Alternatively private taxis can also be arranged. The bus serivice also runs to and from Cabo Roig to a number of places of interest.
Restaurants and Bars
You are spoilt for choice with the fine cuisine and restaurants available in Cabo Roig that combines delicacies from both land and the Mediterranean Sea.
With many of the restaurants winning Five Star awards, it is no wonder that the locals choose to spend the warm evenings dinging with their families.
While visiting Cabo Roig you can delight the palate with the wonderful regional wine selection. The restaurants liven up later in the evening hosting vibrant, local entertainment. There are also a number of bars in the area with provide great quality nightly entertainment for adults and children.

Days Out
There are numerous historic cities's within an hour's drive of Cabo Roig including - Murcia, Orihuela, Cartagena, Elche, Alicante, La Manga and Mar Menor.Historic sites not your thing? Fear not, there are countless activities around including Rio Safari Elche, Water Park Aquopolis Torrevieja and Go Kart Orihuela Costa.
Rio Safari park located on Elche-Santa Pola road has a wide range of animals on display as well as swimming poos and water slides. You can take a safari train around the park to see all the animals. Entrance fee is usually about €11 for adults and around €7.50 for children (between 3 and 10 years of age).
There is also a funfair in the coastal town of Torrevieja, about 15 minutes away from El Convento, that runs every day in Torrevieja marina throughout the summer.
Beaches
The Costa Blaca coastline is famous for its lovely white fine sand beaches and coves of transparent ocean water. The clean and family friendly Cabo Roig beaches are just a 5 minute walk from El Convento. The areas beaches are awarded the Blue Flag year after year with prestigious beaches such as Punta Prima, Playa Famenca, Playa De Cabo Roig all located around you as you step out of El Convento.
If you are interested in taking scuba diving courses, you can do it in Playa Flamenca under the supervision of a PADI professional. For more advanced and trained divers there are trips to several wrecks and to the marine reserve. There are several escorted dive trips from shore, boat diving and night diving available at Scubaworld.
Shopping
There are supermarkets within walking distance of El Convento stocking everything you could need for your time in Cabo Roig. There are also several well known supermarkets within the area and a major shopping centre - Zenia Boulevard
Climate
The Cabo Roig enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate, with cool sea breezes in the summer with the area averaging nearly 3,000 hours of sunshine each year and the average temperature easily exceeding 25 degrees. In 1986, the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommended the climate of the area as one of the most equitable in the world - neither too hot in the summer nor too cold in the winter. On average it can boast 325 sunny days each year making it an ideal all year round destination.
Cycling
Cycling lovers will love the many routes located in and around Cabo Roig riding along the routes up to Torrevieja and its surrounding areas.
Ride along various routes, from routes all along the seaside, to the route along the Dique de Levante and routes in the middle of nature, such as the Lagoons Natural Park or the green way or even Cabo Roig's glorious Strip.
If you wish to cycle but do not have a bike, we recommend you visit "I Love Bike" in La Zenia, where you can rent a bike for hours, days or weeks. On top of this, they can bring your chosen bike(s) to El Convento.
